Why Cavolux

Local, for real

The engine runs on your computer and uses your graphics card. No queue, no credits per generation, and your work never passes through anybody's cloud.

10 repair tools

Automatic repair, fill holes, seal tunnels, remove spikes, erase regions, cut by a plane, mirror, decimate, smooth and thicken. With a defect map and full undo history.

Real measurements, in millimetres

Real scale in millimetres, human references to judge size at a glance, and scaling to whatever size you need. What you measure on screen is what comes out printed.

8 AI models to choose from

TRELLIS, Hunyuan3D, TripoSG, InstantMesh, LGM, TripoSR and Shap-E. Pick whichever suits each job and install them from the menu, one at a time.

How it works

Load the photos

One to three, front and sides. The program cuts out the background by itself.

Pick a model and generate

Three to ten minutes depending on the model and the quality you ask for. All on your graphics card.

Repair, measure and export

Close whatever is still open, set the real size, and out comes a GLB ready to print or to drop into your 3D engine.

The five modules

1

3D Mesh

Load one to three photos and get the mesh. You can choose between 7 different models and change every parameter freely. With mirrored views for symmetric objects.

2

Repair

8 mesh repair and editing tools, ideal for 3D printing. The diagnosis tells you how many holes, loose pieces and spikes the part has; then one tool per problem, with undo and redo at every step.

3

References

Measure, scale and place references. Set the real size in millimetres, scale the model to whatever you need, and drop a human figure beside it to see at a glance how big it really is.

Textures

Put textures on any 3D model! Photos are projected onto the UV atlas and whatever is left uncovered gets filled in. The result comes out as GLB with a PBR material.

Point-to-point mapping

Align the texture by hand: you mark a point on the photo and the same point on the model. You can add that same photo mirrored and bring in other views; together they cover the whole mesh.

Requirements

Base, with the editing and repair module plus the texture mapper

  • 4-core processor
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • SSD recommended
  • 1.6 GB of disk space

3D mesh generator from images

  • 16-core processor or better
  • 16 GB of RAM
  • 8 GB of VRAM*
  • 6 GB of disk space + the models

*16 GB of VRAM recommended

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The installer is a few MB: the compute engine downloads the first time you open the program, and the AI models are chosen and downloaded from the Setup menu, each under its own licence. With the base installed, editing, repair and texture mapping already work; the graphics card is only needed to generate meshes from photos.

How much video memory each model asks for

Model VRAM On disk Card
Hunyuan3D-2mv 6 GB 4.7 GB any, or CPU
InstantMesh (Zero123++) 1 8 GB 8.8 GB any, or CPU
InstantMesh 4/6 6 GB 3.2 GB any, or CPU
LGM 6 GB 5.0 GB NVIDIA required
Shap-E 5 GB 2.1 GB any, or CPU
TRELLIS 10 GB 4.5 GB NVIDIA required
TripoSG 8 GB 8.0 GB any, or CPU
TripoSR 6 GB 1.7 GB any, or CPU

“Any, or CPU” means the model also runs without a dedicated card, on the processor: it works, but it takes far longer. The ones marked NVIDIA required use operations that only exist in CUDA.

Common questions

What is the texture mapper for?

For building game or animation assets out of real photos. You get precise control over the mapping — point to point if you want — and it can also solve it on its own.

What is the editing module for?

Repairing meshes, cutting them for 3D printing and checking scale and dimensions. The idea is to replace several programs with a single tool.

How long does a mesh take?

Three to ten minutes, depending on the model you choose and the quality you ask for. On an RTX 4080 the slowest one never passed nine minutes, textures included.

Do I need internet to work?

Only when the program opens: it checks the licence, and that is all it does. Generating, repairing and texturing needs no connection, and your photos never leave your disk.

How long does the licence last?

Exactly 365 days from activation, as stated in the description when you buy. It does not renew itself: when it expires, you request another. No automatic charges and no surprises on your card.

What if I change computer?

The licence is per computer, so changing machines loses it.

Do I need an NVIDIA card?

For generating meshes it helps: two of the eight models require one and the rest are far faster with it. For editing, repairing and texturing you need none.

What happens to my photos?

They stay on your disk. There is no server, no account and nothing to upload.
